Verzion's Logo Refresh
Google isn't the only one who changed their logo this week. Verizon did as well, my question is why. The refreshed logo comes from the design firm Pentagram. This is Verizon's first new look in 15 years.
Verizon states that an identity refresh makes sense, considering it shifted its agency business to Wieden + Kennedy earlier this year after the shop had been working on brand and strategy work.
I personally haven't been a fan of either logo refresh. Both seem too simplistic, not enough creativity. Design is about innovation. While the Google refresh stays true to the brand's voice and name. Verizon's new logo almost makes the brand lose a bit of itself. You barely see the check-mark that once spread across the whole logo. It just seems boring.
